When used properly, non powered decorative garden lighting adds beauty and elegance to most situations. Here are some helpful tips.

When choosing decorative garden lighting, select a product that allows the light to be transported by hand, without creating a mess. This means, that after you light the wick, you should be able to move the light from one place to another, without extinguishing the flame, or dripping candle wax everywhere.

A lot of portable outdoor lighting will have a loop attachment, similar to that of a camping lantern, which makes rearranging easy. You also want to make sure that it has flame enclosures as well. This prevents the flame from blowing in the breeze, which might catch nearby items on fire. This is a problem you don’t have with solar garden lighting or led garden lighting.

When setting up your light, make sure that the top of the light is not underneath anything. You want to choose a location for your garden decor that is open and airy, giving the flame enough space to burn without heating anything above or around it. Usually, the encasing or frame that the candle is inserted into, will serve to protect what is beneath the light. If you look at the bottom of your candle, and see a wick, then this means that the candle will keep burning until it drips away. If you don’t see a wick, this means that the manufactures have allowed a ½” of just wax at the bottom, which will allow the candle to self-extinguish.
